A group of 32 EC students and 4 chaperones traveled to Toms River New Jersey on an alternative spring break trip to assist rescue efforts following Hurricane Sandy. The group’s efforts were focused on two key projects. First, students
...worked on an eco-reclamation project to help restore key parts of the shoreline that were eroded as a result of Hurricane Sandy. The project largely involved replanting grass, trees, and shrubbery that were washed away in the storm but are essential to the local environment. Second, students worked on houses that were damaged during the storm but still have not been properly repaired. Elyria Catholic extends its heartfelt gratitude to the FCSLA (First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association) for their generous support of our Alternative Spring Break.
